  • SLIMLINE BRAKE CALIPERS NEEDED

Anyone know where I can get pair front aftermarket slimline brake calipers ?
OE sit approx 70mm out from face of disc. Need to gain 10mm , so 55 - 60mm out from disc would be great.
Tried PBR , no good .Only stock replacements according to a very unhelpful employee.
Any light on the subject will be much appreciated.

You could look into the Hilux units. They may be smaller. However they are designed for a smaller disc so the swept area might be a lot less than the Prado ones so you'd have to consult an engineer. I'd say any reduction in braking performance would not be allowed.

    Still... worth looking into.

What's with the mod though? Is there a particular alloy your trying fit?

If you have Brake assist or VSC I wouldn't be altering the braking arrangement.

If your trying to cahnge the rims, I remember reading something about grinding of a
bit of the casting somewhere. Else maybe a later model Prado caliber might do the trick?

If there's no reduction in braking performance and an engineer signs off on it what's your issue?

          Re: SLIMLINE BRAKE CALIPERS NEEDED

The mod is a set of alloys that Ive come across that have a +25 offset but I need a +18 , thus looking at how I can reduce the caliper size as it hits the wheel. Strut clearance is ok , its just the caliper.
Need to go with caliper to suit same size rotor.
I have noticed that there is a large amount of metal protruding out from the caliper , but Im assuming this gives the cast iron strength. Not sure if shaving off 5 mm will be ok.(+ 5mm wheel spacer to get 10mm I need)

Shaving of brakes to fit wheels.... Fitting of wheel spacers. This is an off road competition onnly vehicle isnt it?? Otherwise your gonna have some defect issues not to mention possible brake issues if the calipers give way... Sorry sounds ridiculous to me..

              Your right .
Not willing to go the shave and spacer option , thus the need for slimline calipers .

Sell alloys on eBay and buy new alloys with correct offset
