  • Are the front discs slip off's???

    Hi,

I need to have the front discs machined, and my mechanic asked me if they are slip on's?? I have no idea.
I think what he is getting at is if they can be removed, he can machine them. Otherwise he has to get them done elsewhere.

Rather than ringing Toyota, I thought I would seek the wealth of knowledge that is pradopoint.

Yes, they are all slip on as already stated. Before you spend the $$$'s machining them, ring around and price up some new ones. I have found of late that brand new ones can be the same if not cheaper than machining. Also, once you start machining you are reducing the thickness and the discs will tend to warp/shudder alot quicker. Cheers

My mechanic said that they would be $20 each to machine, as long as they are slip on's. Otherwise it would be $45. I thought new discs were quite expensive? ie over the $200 mark.
