Just had all four brake pads changed last week. The brakes felt really good until this morning when the brake pedal went slowly nearly all the way to the floor. Mechanic says that the master cylinder relief valve is faulty and needs to be repalced. Anyone else has this problem straight after a brake service?

I'd be curious to know what comes out of this.
I had my rear brakes changed about 6 months ago and my brakes have been spongy since. I was thinking of taking mine to a Brake Specialist and getting them to check all the lines, master cylinder, booster & bleed the whole system because Im getting rather tired of the pedal feeling this way...Silver '05 Prado VX 3L TD

Re: Master Cylinder Relief Valve
Your issue does sound like it could be air in the lines. In my case the pedal would almost go to the floor even if the vehicle was not moving. The diagnosis was the master cylinder was faulty. I got a reconditioned unit put in and the problem appears to be solved. I'll give it a few days to see if it reoccurs.2004,GXL V6 Auto. Too bad. You just replaced your brake pads then after sometime you have to replace your master cylinder valve. At least, you don't have to replace the whole master cylinder.Last edited by nelshaun; 20-07-2011, 05:52 PM.
