Air in master cylinder (maybe)

Well, I only have myself to blame for my situation. Was doing pads and rotors and brake bleed and I’ve let the master cylinder get too low and have let air in. Pedal just goes to the floor.

Can I just bleed the master cylinder, as if I were installing a new one? What to do now? All was good until I got to the front left. The new dot 3 was flowing fine until I erred with the MC top up.

All help appreciated. 2004 v6 4 spd auto

If it has ABS and an accumulator, top up master cylinder, turn ignition on and it should pump fluid thru using the accumulator motor as you pump the brakes. start rear left, rear right, front left, front right on the bleed nipples until strong fluid flow and no air. Bleed as normal. (Note this is how it worked on my 2006 with ABS and traction control) not sure if 2004 different. If it is, then I'd suggest a good strong bleed as per normal to get all air out system.

Piggy Thanks. Yes I have a GXL which has ABS. I’ll do it all again but this time I’ll watch the MC does not get low. Hopefully that’ll solve it.

How do I completely flush the shitty fluid out of the MC reservoir. The reservoir has 3 compartments. The thin right one doesn’t drain at all but appears to have mixed in with the new fluid. Shame the photo is not clearer. When I first did it the right compartment looked black. Trying to see if that level decreased led me to the air in system
