Re: Bendix 4WD Pads off when used cold.
OK did a cold test today and either I don't have the same issue or I'm not sensitive enough to pick it up. I had a B21 BMW years ago with metallic brake pads and sintered clutch (it was an ex track car) and that was lethal in town because the slow speeds didn't get enough heat into the brakes. Occasional visits to the big smoke meant lots of space between me and the cars in front. The brakes don't feel anything like that and I can apply enough pressure with just a big toe (left or right) to stop.
Don't know where you can go with this other than be aware of it since the brakes are fine after the initial stop. The last resort thing that I can think of is perhaps the brake pistons are retracting into the caliper too far after you have stopped and the brakes cooled down. You could try push hard on the brakes while the engine is off/just started before you move and see if that makes a difference. Could be that your piston o rings are just pulling the pads too far clear of the discs and your first stop pushes them back out. Just an idea.
