  • Car Not Selecting 4x4

I had a prob January 10. After selecting 4x4 (high or low) the indication on the dash the 4x4 was selected failed intermittently to light up. Sometimes straight away - other times not for 10 or 15 k. Car went back under warranty and I was told a sensor was the problem - all fixed.

Used 4x4 in Nov 10 and again in April 11 and it was ok. Needed it again in June. No light on dash at all. Permanently NOT on. Of course the car could be in 4x4 and the light failed - but I don't believe that was the case. It simply was not selecting 4x4.

Back in the shop today - not warranty unfortunately. Any others had a similar problem ??

By 4x4 I'm assuming you mean, locked centre diff, right?

Can we have some more info on your Prado? (Year/trim/engine)

Do you have a push button or stick shift operated diff-lock?

Been covered a few times, have a look in the transmission section of the 120 section.

        Isn't this that section ??

Fixed now. It was the same sensor/switch. The dealer didn't charge labour which is not too bad.
