Auto Tranny Lever Locked

Today I suddenly can't move the Auto Shift Lever out of the Park position without using the 'Shift Lock' button (5 speed transmission - D4D diesel)
Everything else seems to be OK.
Any ideas?

Check your brake light fuse. The transmission lock works from the power when you put your foot on the brake.

Definately check the brake fuse.

I had pulled the centre console out to do a bit of wiring for my electric brake controller - and had also removed the connector for the brake activator (to suss out which wire I needed for the electric brake unit). I put the console back in and couldn't shift gears without pushing the switch in. Tore most of my hair out and then remembered that I hadn't reconnected the brake connection - all fixed.

Just ask the bird from Port Macquarie - there wasn't a lot to start with.
