  • Transfer Case Issues

    Hi Everyone,

I have recently purchased a 2003 120 Series Prado V6 5sp Man and on the weekend I went off road with a few mates and found I couldn't move the gear lever for high and low range. I tried rocking it back and forth in gear, putting it in neutral before engaging. I couldn't move the gear lever at all it seems jammed. It currently is in H but won't move at all. has anyone heard or had this problem from what I can gather the guy has never taken it off road before and has probably never even selected HL or L before the car has only done 80,000kms. Help!

    Howdy All

Have a little problem much the same as above. Although I have had mine in and out of 4WD - high and low range. Haven't had this type of problem before but can not get transfer case lever out of "H" into "HL". Have been down to Toyota but they seem a little puzzled. They are telling me the box has to come out to look further into it which as we all know means $ It's only 2 weeks out of extended warranty. Might be trading in a 120 for a 200.

    Regards Adam

When was the last time you changed the TC oil? What are the chances of such a simple solution?

I have no idea when the oil was last changed.
Its in the driveway waiting for you to come around and do it, perhaps tonight?

        Kindest regards Adam

You know I would, but ..........

Seriously, could it be a simple solution for you? It's a job I'll be doing sometime over Christmas.
