Annoying squeak

Hey prado pointers, was out 4wding up beach and after a hill climb when ever I put clutch in I have a annoying squeak that gets really loud. It has a quiet squeak on idle. Have been to underbody wash and spent 20mins hosing sand out and it's still happening. Could it be sand on clutch plate? Anyone had this happen or got advice?

Could be the thrust bearing. If it seizes you will damage the pressure plate.

Yeah that's true. I'm at rainbow beach and there was no mechanics open so will sort it out wen I'm back in brisbane.

Good chance its the clutch fork pivot sqeaking.

How hard is that to fix mate? Got access to hoist so going to fix it myself just need to find the problem so driving my spare car

Depends which side.Passenger side has plastic cover on bottom of the bell housing where u should be able to squirt some lube on pivot (tac-2,or wd-40,be sure to not come in contact whith clutch).If its the drivers side pivot then i think it could be a box out job.

what exactly is the clutch fork pivot kwiky? im a boat builder so i don't know lots about mechanical on cars but im learning.

Ok so got it sorted. Took out inspection port in bottom of box and flushed it out with water. Got a little bit of sand out but it was not a lot. 99% sure it's the throw out so ordering a new one tomorrow. Will have hoist put up this week so will have next weekend to work on it. Have been doing 50 hour plus weeks so limited to spare time.

G'Day, just a quick check before you drag the box out.
Does noise go away with your foot hard on the clutch? or is just a squeak when driving.
If it is quite with your foot on the clutch, I would say it is a dry pivot as there is no load on it & fork can move around some what, as you put your foot on th eclutch & load it up, pressure is on pivot & no movment & no squeak,
Had this before on an old HJ61, simply poped fork of pivot & put a little fingerful of grease on pivot & noise gone for about 20000km.

hey spike1 the noise is constant. On idle it squeaks with clutch out and when clutch is put in it gets louder. Every mechanic has told me to just replace the clutch as it will take 8 to 12 hours and maybe longer to get the box out and going to all that trouble its best to just do the clutch. Toyota want $273 just for the bearing so i will keep pricing up new clutches. I have got priced $500 for full kit on a excedy from BHSS. Can anyone reccomend a clutch?


edit. best price so far is 455 plus 20 postage for the excedy. hopefully i can get it for under 400 discounted off a friend. fingers crossed

well new clutch is orded aswell as a spigot bearing for $290. gotta love mates rates. have a friend with a complete workshop setup with hoist and ect ect so shouldnt be a pain in the arse to do. will price up getting flywheel machined or i'll replace it if its not too much to buy.

finally some work will be getting done. got clutch on tuesday and weekend off work so i'll be pulling box out tonight and sending fly wheel away to get machined.
