  • Notchy Gearbox - Clutch Adjustment

    Hi Guys,

Had a notchy gearbox since recently purchasing my ‘07 D4D and noticed that the clutch pedal was near the floor, so didn't have much travel.

Today I couldn't get into reverse and the forward gears were all difficult to get in - started to panic thinking here we go the gearbox has packed it in, off to Mr Toyota (again) and a few $Grand later back on the road.

Got to thinking, maybe it’s not the gearbox, the clutch just needs adjustment?

Started chasing the web and found this helpful link:

    http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/149-10th-generation-2009/376011-diy-adjusting-clutch-pedal-travel.html

Had a look and found the retaining nut was loose and the whole pushrod was wobbling about – tightened it all up and this restored pedal travel! Gear changes are now smooth and easy, including reverse.

I plan to get it off to Mr Toyota just to make sure the setup is correct, but for now at least I can drive it.

    Hope this helps others.

    Cheers,

    Tony
