For the record- an auto locker should be much less than 1k plus fitting... More like less than 1k fitted..
Auto Locker's aren't suitable for manual transmissions and aren't recommended for full-time 4 wheel drives.

I agree, but the ARB air lockers are legendary- it's the price that gets me!

The only Auto Locker you can get for the Prado is for the rear of auto transmission version. You are correct, you can't use them with a manual and you can't fit them to the front - they are fine for the back though.

Anyway Id prefer to be able to control when and where I wanted it to activate/needed..Cheers Steve
I understand what you mean - under those circumstances the ticking would be a pain. I only really notice it going in and out of parking spaces but tight turns and mini roundabouts would probably get to you

An auto locker will be less noticeable in the rear axle of a fulltime 4wd than it would be in the rear of a part time 4wd.

Yeah Steve the compressor in the deal is the CKMA12, which is the model that can inflate tyres
Having said that i won't be allowed to sell the car for a long time with the amount 'invested' in it So maybe a larger initial cost will pay off in time

I was told by Mannel Motors at Thornleigh that the "free" compressor was for the locker only and not for tyres!

Just print out the page from the ARB website and show that to them - clearly states CKMA12 High Output Air Compressor

As I'm in WA I don't know anything about the ARB stores in NSW but I did wonder what sort of service you'd get if you had to argue the point over which compressor you're getting - if it were me I'd probably go somewhere else anyway

Yeah, well I've been waiting to hear back with a firm quote since calling in last Saturday and haven't heard a peep- I don't think I'll be going back there, even though Declan recommended them!
                            Cheers, Brad

Yes and I will continue to recommend them. I will be getting them to fit a rear locker to my next rig very soon. I have no complaints about their work and I know several people who agree with me.

I hardly think confusion on the part of the person at the front desk about which compressor is included is worth getting your knickers in a knot over. You're dealing with humans, not robots. Simply ask them to refer to ARB's ad and I'm sure they will apologise for the confusion. Same goes for the quote you've been waiting on. Have you considered that it might be a simple clerical error? Have you followed it up with them before defaming the business?

And regarding Steve's concerns about workmanship done by a different workshop, I believe it to be an isolated case and people need to allow room for businesses to correct their mistakes before plastering the their "horror stories" over the Internet.

Hi Declan, its not just once but twice by two different branches, the first they tried to fix using quickgrip, torn rubber cv boot done by them while putting lift in, took it back told them I have grease and shit sprayed everywhere, got it back the second time looked under neath and could see the yellow glue/quickgrip where they tried gluing it back together, took it back again and then they replaced it as I asked the first time and told them I was a fussy prick and like doing things write, not hard to check things when your in business, the second time was with my second prado, what a friggn night mare that was bent bash plates where they tried jacking it up under neath using bash plate, bodgy fitment of snorkel, broken clips, grease on leather door trim and seat, yes it was fixed (snorkel I fixed myself) and parts replaced but I was out of pocket in time off work taking the vehicle back, fuel, and been pissed off by shitty workmanship we all pay good money for to the so called experts

Im sure you wouldnt be so forgiving had this been your vehicle and you decided to dunk the front end to do a river crossing thinking yep Im right ive got a snorkel, this is how I found the hose (disconected and dangling down as in pic) and not much sight of silastic, response was it didnt say to seal all this in the instructions !!! WTF, whats a snorkel for ?? to use as a bug catcher so I can see how many moths I can collect for my 3 year old !!! Anyway they wont be getting any more $$$ from me..........Cheers Steve
