No low range...

Hey all,

I have discovered that recently my short lever wont move. It wont move from the std "H" position at all so no high locked or low range. I have done a search and not come across this.

Has anyone had this happen or have any suggestions for me??

It is a 2003 GX Diesel Manual with 350k on the clock and I had all the oils changed about a year ago. Last time I had it in Low range was probably 2 months ago..

It could be any number things causing this, but lets try the easiest first. My current 2009 120 V6 will not shift out of Hi - range into locked or Lo-range without being in "P" with the handbrake on???? It will not shift from "N"????!!!!
My previous 2003 120 V6 shifted fron both "N" and "P" ?????!!!!

Give this a go, if you havent already, and see what happens.

Sounds like the gate has seized up.......you should be able to take off the cover plate and remove the shifter.........look for signs of wear......i had an old hilux with a similar problem.........the shifter tab/spade at the end had burred or rounded up on the edges from vibration over time and was causing it to jam and not let me shift..........i just filed off the burr and it fixed the problem.

Thanks Bazza, I have tied evey combination possible, rolling, stopped, in N, in gear, engine off. No go. it wont even go between H and HL.

Hey Dan, Sounds like this could be it as the stick doesnt really move at all. Might have to remove/get the console out of the way and have a sticky.
