CV's & W/bearings

my 05 hsa a front end drive line vibration (not a uni first thing I checked) I jacked it up the other day & both front w/bearings are stuffed also the main part of the CV that slide's on the diff assembly moves in & out quiet a bit 4 to 5mm at least can anyone give me the max movement allowed. When I go to remove them do they just slide off the spline or is there a clip that holds them in as I've only had dealings solid with front ends before this car.
