Hey Steve, I get mine done every year. Best bet is to find a good one and stick with him.

      Hi Steve,

i had my fluid changed by my Toyota dealer after finding the fluid was very burnt. Oh, yeah the car has only done 40,000km. I can also suggest adding in a transmission cooler.

I recently flushed my trans with 'Total XLD-FE'... After learning the trans fluid was ok for the life of the vehicle I asked toyota what they consider the life of the vehicle to be... They told me the life of the vehicle in their eyes is the warranty period... That says alot to me anyways i flushed it and the trans has felt great ever since... However using a synthetic trans fluid has made some of the seals weep...

          Hey Steve,
I do it every 20K. It sure helps!! I noticed smooth gear changes after the change and used the Toyo T-IV stuff.
After seen the oil came off from mine when I bought it (140K) I can say they are not going to last forever

toyota market it as "Sealed for life" so people don't want to.

Toyota do it to show that they have low running/servicing costs. When gov or big businesses looking for fleets this is more appealing, but they usually upgrade the fleet every 3/5 years.

This is also another reason why some manufacturers are stretching service intervals for servicing

Thank ####, but already booked in for Monday, just had to insist that I wanted it done, they seemed to want to fob me off with excuses for not doing it! Last chance for my local Dealer, I will go else where if they don't impress this service.
Just out of interest, how much did Toyota charge for change of fluid? For those that got Toyota to do it.
                            Thanks

If you are pushing the dealer and they are reluctant to do it, I would not push further. They might not do it but still charge you for it or they would just dump what's in the sump and not do a full flush.
