  • Drive train noise

I have a 2004 V6 Auto that has a 'humming/droning noise' coming from what I think is the drive train when driving above 80 kph. It gets worse the closer I get to 100 kph. It can be heard when maintaining constant speed with accelerator, when accelerating and decelerating. If you pick the point where there in no load on the drive train the noise is not there.

Does anyone know what could be causing this noise?

    Thanks for any help.

What sort of tyres are you running ? anything even slightly agressive will probably suffer from heal and toe if not rotated regurly and may change in sound as you power or backoff, It certainly does in the Triton with STs and a load, I dont get it in the Prado as it has ATRs which are less aggresive and dont make enough noise to tell.

I guess a worn diff could whine under load and not whine when not stressed ?

Do a search as there was a couple of earlier threads pointing to exhasut drone and even worn uni joints?
