Auto shudder at slow speed

Had this on my 5sp auto since new. When coming to a stop in traffic, the last little bit when you are just moving, the auto seems to shudder like a clutch is slip, grabbing. If you use a little bit more than idle and two foot brake throttle the auto is smooth all the way to stop. Was wondering is it the pump pressure allowing the clutches to slip or the torque converter. Also does this when bumper to bumper traffics but again when only just rolling.
Any ideas?

Doesn't seem to be a temperature issue as it is worse in the mornings. Toyota service could not replicate it early in life. Will check the level this weekend.

I don't know if the binding tailshaft is an issue for the 120 series but what you've described is one of the many symptoms rectified when my auto 150 tailshaft was EVENTUALLY replaced. Slow speed braking is now smooth, controlled and requires less pedal pressure.

Have the tailshaft bump as well but if I use copious amounts of grease the bump stops and the underside of the car will never rust.
