6 speed clutch replacement

Hi guy,s
Have got to replace the throw out bearing in my 05 prado due to becoming very noisy after the recent floods here in Mackay, The local Dealer here gave me a quote of 1200 big ones to do the work so i thought i could do it for cheaper than that myself. Just want to see if any of you guy,s or girls out there have do one yet and let me know of any tips or any thing that i should be aware of before starting.

Hi birdie,
Is your prado still under wty??? If so it should be covered be wty!! being an 2005 model ! they have lagre ,long, heavy boxs , can be done on the ground but a sh$# of a job!!!!!! you can remove the transfer and then the gear box but suggust haveing a coulpe of good mates over to help.

I think that was mentioned with the ol lux that the gearbox was bloody heavy and my favourite mechanic would not touch it. :shock: He sent me to some specialist 4WD place who had bigger meaner jacks and lifting stuff.
Couln't imagine the Prado being any different.

No warranty on clutch as it's a wear and tear item

, throw out bearings are covered by wty if they are noisy!!!

Thanks for the replys fella's
I tried for warranty on the bearing but the car was 6 days (3yrs 61000klm) out if it's warranty period and got ''we will have to pull it apart and send it to toyota'' story from the dealer and would take a few days to do.
So it looks like a carton of Bundy cans, BBQ and some mates this weekend.
