  • Diff Locker info

    Hi All,
I'm looking at installing front and rear diff lockers in my diesel manual 120 series and am keen to hear from members who have had them fitted. What pros and cons there are and any preference between Air Lockers and E Lockers?
    Cheers,
    Cammac78

I love my elockers! They've saved my arse on a couple of occassions now. The latest one:

Spoke to a lot of diff places, they all said the same thing, stick with the electrically operated one, so much less issues than with the air lockers.

Each to their own, they'll both do the job.... One without blowing diff oil everywhere though!

Ive got twin arb mainly for there 5yr warranty. My mate phil has twin arb also. We have had 3 seals fail between us in 40,000 odd tho. My cope a flogging, pretty much used every weekend. I drive stupid stuff all the time and never snapped a cv. Basically i go real easy when the fronts in. I might go elockers in the next truck but unsure yet.

I've done a fair bit of digging around and decided on Eaton E Lockers.

I know people love their ARB set up's and the warranty is good, but I would rather avoid the failure issues all together.

I have E Lockers front and back. Great now that they are all in. I had a problem with the front locker magnet failing at installation. Harrop replaced the part after a fair bit of pulling out, putting back in and filming the whole process with the mechanic. Apparently they have never seen this fail...........Anyhow all good now, works like a charm, just got to remember to turn them off. I do like the option of an auto locker in the rear and the selectable up front like some have done on here.

                  Cheers,

I have done a lot of research on the different types and I decided on the E Locker for it's simplicity, far less things to go wrong, out of all the things that I have read the only "problem" is the one that Dueller 120 had. That's the first negative I have read. Anyway, getting my front E Locker fitted next week, YEHA.

All Four x 4 Spares in Kotara NSW have the Eaton elocker for the 120 rear diff at only $1395 + fitting. No I am not in a anyway affiliated with them, just thought it was a good price.

Having lost traction on a hill and wrecked the rear diff I have fitted the Eaton elocker. The vehicle is a different beast now and much more capable. Had to wait 3 months for the lockers to arrive. I believe that there were supply problems form the USA; hopefully this has been resolved now. Chose the elocker over airlocker due to the dramas that friends have had with airlockers (air-leakers as they call them).
