So I pulled the rear axles out just far enough to allow the diff centre to come out. I've discovered the left side housing "O" ring has broken. Is there a fix without having to undo the brake line and hand brake cable in order to completely remove the axle? There was no oil leaks prior to undoing everything. Cheers.

i managed to remove the axles without disconnecting any lines, cables
i just undone the clamps as far as i could
just try not to let the axle drag over the seal
to disconnect the handbrake cable there is a little clip on the backing plate ( usually covered in mud & crap so you cant see it !! )
find the clip pull it out slip the cable out of the holder on the pad and remove it it will make the job easier !2008 Dune D4D manual GXL update - with lots of fruit !! + Roma Razorback Off Road Van

After getting 2 "o" rings from a workshop for free I find they are too small. Apparently there was another chink of the original "o" ring hanging under the axel. No problems, the "o" ring from the Racor filter is the right diameter albeit a little thicker than the stock unit. Bit of grease and all sorted. No leaks. Job done.Dave
