Take it to Toyota, definitely should not be leaking like that.

I have spoken to the sales manager and I am dropping it off at the dealer this afternoon for them to look at it tomorrow

I thought only Land Rovers were meant to leak :P

would be parking the friggin thing on his head... Bloody hell, 55g and pissing oil out everywhere, at 400 kms You're bloody joking..

        Forget mr. nice guy,
Sheesh...who's a Mr Cranky pants then???

It's an oil leak, no big panic. It'd be a simple failed gasket, sensor O ring or maybe hose to the trans cooler. It can happen on any car no matter how expensive or how new or how many klm's.... I bet it wasn't leaking oil on the Toyota factory floor!!

That's why you have a warranty.

Let's just say I'll be negotiating a refund on my $350 'dealer delivery' fee, plus a steam clean and detail. I've owned many new cars and never had a problem like this. Let's hope it's a once off as this Prado is expected to take us around Aus.

After a full day with the dealer I have no news on what the issue is or when it will even be fixed. This is going to get ugly

Completely agree that this isn't good enough.

Careful though. As has been mentioned in other threads covering such issues, being Mr nasty in the show room in full view of customers can end up backfiring on you.

I'd get advice from Consumer Affairs or DOCEP as here in WA (Dept of Consumer and Employment Protection) to see how you can push the issue with reasonable arguments. Especially if the dealer is being tardy about the whole thing. You may find out some interesting things to keep in mind when "negotiating" with the dealer.

I'm not saying be meek about the whole thing. I'd make the dealership feel 2cm tall! But not by flying off the handle at them. Certainly, they need to know you aren't a pushover.

              Just my 2c.

I feel for you blkmav90. You just get your pride and joy home and this happens.

Without going over the top, I'd be insisting on an immediate repair with a time given or I would not leave the premises. Any decent dealer would offer to give you a vehicle while yours is in the workshop, apologise profusely, and a parting something to keep you happy. I have had this treatment and will stay with the dealer.

They also love you to get the vehicle serviced there also. Tell them you(and everybody you know) won't come near the place if you don't get satisfaction, and ask for the dealer Principal, if the bloke on the floor isn't treating you right.

                Good luck

And no loan car while yours is in the shop ! I hope you didn't taxi it back home.

Hi Guys - I actually used to work for a Toyota Dealership and MOST of the time the person running 'interference' is the Service Manager (doesn't want the hassle). I would politely ask him to fulfill ALL of your requirements, as it will only cost you approx. $28 to lodge a complaint for a hearing with Consumer groups. NEVER in the history of Consumer Court has a Dealer won!!!! PLUS the complaint and finding goes on a permanent register for future reference (and they can lose their franchise from Toyota if they receive enough!). Make the phone call and save yourself the hassle - OR ph the Toll Free number in your warranty book and explain your next course of action to a higher authority a bit further up the foodchain with Toyota.

After sales service is an individual dealer thing unfortunately! I buy all of my vehicles form where I used to work - for price alone - but hell will freeze over before I took it to that Service Dept.!!!!

I called the toll free number and spoke to Toyota. The gentlemen said there's nothing Toyota can do if the dealer is rectifying the problem. He couldn't see the issue

Sorry to hear about your problem dragging on.

If your dealer is anything like the one up here, which is usually booked up for a least 1 month in advance just with servicing, the difficulty then comes with how do you fit a urgent warranty job in :?:

I would be asking for a definite time frame for the return of your car & if you haven't got one yet a courtesy car until the car is returned.

They have offered a loan car but at this stage it is not required. If I don't have the vehicle this evening, I will be asking for a programme of work and a completion date.

What state are you in? I know the State Service Manager for Toyota in NSW... he's actually my uncle.
