120 D4D 6spd man gear stick excessive play

Hello prado guru's!!
My first time on here so thank you in advance.
The question i have is regarding the excessive play in the top half of my two part gear stick. I have had a look after removing the panels ect and the bottom half has minimal to zero play in it. There is a rubber looking bush that is below the top half of the gear stick which I asumed should be up inside?.
Has anyone fixed this issue themselves?

I have read this one and it definitely gave me a lot more insight. I am still wondering if you can disassemble the two parts and repair the internals of the top half..?
