2004 6 speed manual won't go into reverse

Hi all. My 6 speed wouldn't go into reverse so had to bush bash through the kids daycare garden to get out:-( Anyway, hubby pulled apart the gear shifter from the top and it looks like a plastic ring thing has crumbled and that's the problem. He's had to go away to work and I need to order the part from Toyota but I don't know what the piece is called? Can anyone please give me an idea of what to ask? Thanks

Is it a plastic cup that sits within a metal ( alloy) cup?

I had mine replaced recently.

mine was actually the ring for the low range selector, i'll see if i can find the name on the invoice for the part (will be same name for low and high)

are you sure yours is a 6spd manual? i didnt think they came out until 2006/7

Yep definitely a 6 speed. The service centre guy knew what I was asking for so hopefully he ordered the right thing otherwise I'm down $150.

If it's a 6 speed, and you're not counting the reverse gear as one of the speeds, then it must be a late '04 V6 petrol.
