6 speed gearbox

Has anybody driven the 6 speed Prado ?? Is it like driving a sedan ?? or are the ratio's to close. The dealer told us that it has two over drives and to overtake you must go back to forth gear .

Yep, I know of someone who has one and they said they are forever changing down on the HWY to overtake.

depends on how deep you bury your foot. Generally it kicks back promtly and willingly. Does that on cruise too!

He stated it was like the 5 speed but worse! I know my 5 speed changes around all the bloody time, as soon as it encounters a hill or heavy throttle basically.
I drove my genIII commodore yesterday on cruise and noted how it never changed gears on the hills as it has more torque!

So the 5th gear in the manual is the same as the Auto's 4th gear . And the 6 sixth gear should pull a little stronger then the auto's 5th gear .

True or False ?? Demands maybe on my driving style

I've got the 6 spd man behind the V6 and must admit i do most of my overtaking in forth .. it brings the revs up to punchy area and the response is very satisfying, evan towing.. its a 4th gear pull.. as for the two overdrives id agree as well

5th is usually my hyway gear and six for long flat freeways .. i find if you use 5th or 6th it needs more throtlle to maintain the same speed, but if i sellect 4th dont use any more throttle and the vechile accelerates nicely hence less fuel consumption.. i like it

To overtake I change down to 5th but since installing the chip I will have to test it out.
