I seem to recall a thread that had some talk of fitting a solid pinion spacer at the same time as fitting an air locker. I've done a search but can't find a thing on it.
Can anybody help?
Mick

solid pinion spacers are available from either toyota or even repco. They are a good bit of security, as they help the pinion bearings live a bit longer. Get the applicable shim pack as well, as these are required to setup pinion preload correctly. If you are going to the effort of building the diff properly, MAKE SURE they set the carrier side bearing preload properly. This is the most common issue relating to diff failure!! minimum side preload 60-80ft/lb!!!!!!!!! our comp trucks have 100-140ft/lb..... most diff builders are slack and would barely put 20-30ft/lb.
Tech - increaqsing the preload "pre-stretchs" the 3rd member, reducing its chance of spreading and reducing tooth contact between crownwheel and pinion!
