    Hi weasal4x4,
I have averaged 140,000km,s out of my last three 4wd's clutch pressure plates, my last two tojo,s had noisy throw-out bearings when compared to my GU Pootrol, I had to replace the Hilux forerunner clutch throw-out bearing at 90,000km's it was as noisy as my current 07 Prado with 34,000km,s on the clock, I recently had the Prado inspected by our local dealer who said it was O.K.

Thanks Clifton, I guess i'll have to look at something a little heavier duty as i don't want to be replacing clutches every few years.

        Hi Weasel 4x4,
Yeah I know how you feel, Crammy tried to get a heavy duty clutch for his 120 but alas none were available, as much as I hate automatics and the bad driving habits they produce in some motorists :x , modern auto transmissions units with pre-select etc. are the go for long term reliability and manual transmissions seem to be going the way USA manual transmissions did., sorry to get of subject a bit.

          Re: Clutch failure

Yesterday I noticed clutch slippage in my 2005 6sp Man 120series while trying to reverse my toy boat up the driveway. I've reversed it up the drive a dozen times before with no dramas. The clock has just ticked over 151000kms. I'd hate to have clutch failure while trying to retrieve my boat from the water, so can anyone suggest a heavy duty clutch and a reputable dealer/shop in brisbane? I would like to get it done in the next week or so.

          Regards,
          Wags

            Re: Clutch failure

I was quoted $1750 fitted for an Exedy Tuff clutch and have been quoted $1600 fitted for a custom made one. Both are nearly the same in strength, but will go with the custom clutch.

                  Re: Clutch failure

Finally got organised and was quoted about $1950 fitted from toyota for a standard clutch but ended up getting a heavy duty Clutch Industries clutch fitted and fly wheel machined e.t.c for $1500. Picked up the car today and i reckon the pedal is alot lighter than original. (but i haven't driven a manual for over a week). The clutch kit it's self was $840.

                    Re: Clutch failure

good to see ya got the clutch problem sorted weasel, $1500 is not a bad price at all, better than $1950 for the std toyota clutch, mine takes up about an inch of the floor and takes a bit of gettin used to, and $840 is a good price, thats about what i paid for the safari. cheers samo
