Is it normal for the 6 speed manual transmission (2005 model) to be noisier when it gets hot? For short runs around town, say up to half an hour, my transmission is noisier than I'd like but not too bad. After I've been on the road for an hour or 2 though it gets noticably noisier. It is very noticable in second and third. Is this normal Prado transmission behaviour, should I be concerned about it, and would changing to a different gearbox oil quieten it down?

I have not noticed any significant change in noise from my 6 Speed G/box & Transfer case after 38,000km's 1st and 2nd gears are not noisy when G/Box hot, Davros is on the money I would change the Gearbox and Transfer case lub oils, first and then see how that goes. Most of my gearbox noise eminates from the clutch assy throwout bearing when hot and in neautral.07 Upgrade GXL D4D, Manual, Dune,Sov Bar, BFG's, SG11, Redark dual Batts, Extensive Aux wiring, Stebel, LED stop tails, IPF HID's (my mod), 240V Inv, ARB Comp, GME UHF,TPMS, Safari snorkel, GPS,Hilux washers, 40l Engel in 30% pas pos, homemade A/C cond protection plate, polyairs.
