    Re: Transmission Oil Change Intervals?

    Had my transmission serviced today.
I chose to pay someone to do it, simply because its not something I'm not confident at, and dont want to risk it.
    Labour cost: $220.
Oil I provided myself - approx 13 litres of Hi TEmp A/T redline sythentic fluid.
It shifts a lot nicer and firmer now.
The mechanic said the old oil was pretty dirty, but no isses with the box. Its all good, but he did note that the prado (and hilux) autos aren't particularly strong, and to take it easy on it.
2004 Prado GXL. v6 auto, ARB deluxe bar, exhaust, 2" EFS lift kit, Outback Acc rear bar,
rallye 2000 spots, roof mount dvd, dig_options stereo, toyota roof bars.
    More to come!

Spoke to auto trans specialist today. MY V6 VX 5 speed auto , 2006 is just coming up 80000. He recommended changing the fluid whatever use it has had at this km/age as it tends to go off with age/use. Cost will be $195. He says it is cheap insurance for those who keep their cars longer. He uses the genuine Toyota fluid. He also said if you cycle the fluid you don't need a larger transmission cooler as the standard one is fine. The car will not be going near a dealer! Neil
