  • heavy duty clutch for 120 6 speed

    Guys

Have been doing some reading on posts regarding heavy duty clutches. so far it looks like the Exedy is the front runner.

I will be looking at upgrading the clutch soon and notice that AAMs at Sandgate seem to have good prices on Exedy. Has anyone dealt with AAMS re clutches?

Can you recommend a good crowd on the northside? I am still waiting on some quotes to come back

Re: heavy duty clutch for 120 6 speed

Last I heard, there wasn't an aftermarket clutch available for the six speed box, only the orginal equipment clutch.
    Has this changed?

I have purchase heaps of kits from here in the past. http://www.sunburybrakes.com.au/index.htm
They are good to deal with, have good prices for trade, and it only costs $20.00 for delivery from Melbourne to Sydney.
2008 Diesel Prado with extra stuff added. I drive it on the road and other places too.

Is a heavy duty clutch replacement really necessary? How good is the standard unit for towing? I would have thought that it would be suitable sized for towing.

OL had quoted me $1750 just before xmas for an Exedy Tuff clutch, but ended up with a custom jobby from On Track 4x4 in Moss St.

As far as replacing the std clutch with a heavy duty, it depends on what you use the 4wd for most of the time. For me - towing a 2.3t boat around. If you drive the kids to soccer practice, then a std clutch will do ya.

if the price difference for a std v's heavy duty is under $200 i would go for the h/d for piece of mind, that way the only weakish sort of link then is the lsd. cheers samo
