  • Changing ring & pinion size including diff. ratio

I own a LC 2008,automatic gear, 3.0D4D open diff. 7.5" with diff. ratio of 1: 3.56 ,equipped with electronic TC . I wander if changing the ring & pinion to 8" with a ratio of 1:4.10, will prevent the future breakage of the diff? Does an 8" ring& pinion fit my original diff. housing?
Where can be bought such ring and pinion ? Other efficient and worth recomandations?
    thanks 4 your educated replies!

Re: Changing ring & pinion size including diff. ratio

What country are you in? Are to 100% sure you have a 7.5" diff? All Australian, US, South American and Middle East country delivered, 120 platform model vehicles have the 8 inch diff (as far as I know. )

If you have a 7.5 diff and want to go 8" then you will need a complete diff center, not just the ring and pinion gear. (both front and rear diff if your changing ratios)

Cross reference on TOYODIY.com to confirm what diff you have and what you need, confirm the axle housings are the same and also the axles fit the diff.

As a point of interest, it's very rare for TC equiped vehicles to break a diff, also; 8 inch diffs break as well!

A better and more cost effective solution is to fit an ARB air locker and also fit solid pinion spacers.
