  • vehicle vibration

Hi I am new to this forum and I was wondering if anyone has come across this problem where one day if I select (D) drive the whole car starts to vibrate but if I select any other gear PARK,NEUTRAL,OR REVERSE its fine then few days later same problem but this time its vibrating in reverse but its fine in Park, Neutral, and Drive I dont understand what it could be I want to get it sorted before it gets worse and costly.
any advise will be greatly appreciated Thanks.

That would be your active engine mounts faulty. They operate on vacuum and can fail causing a leak which upsets idol settings when engine cold. May cost around a grand to get replaced. Car can still be driven it will continue to idol rough though. Apparently Toyota had a faulty batch though they will not warrant any replacement.

I agree with michaell see this thread. Mine replaced in 2014 . Toyota wanted $950 got them done for $600 odd by my mechanic

thanks everyone for replying so are you saying it could be the vacuum pipe?

It could be a tubing failure but most likely the engine mount.

Ok thanks everyone I have got a quote for both the front engine mounts from Toyota and it comes to around 500 quid just for the parts. I want to try and save some money and attempt to fit both mounts myself anyone got any guidance or tips.
            Thanks
