  • Oils all round?

    G'day all,

Planning to change gearbox, transfer case and front diff oil today and am wondering what oils you are all using?? I have used Castrol VMX80 in most gearboxs over the years and Castrol 80W/90 in diffs and transfer cases, but I'm a little more pedantic with the Prado them I have been with past vehicles.

Any info on what your using would be greatly appreciated.

Also, why I'm here does anyone know where the drain and filler plugs are located on the front diff?

    Thanks a heap in advance

    Cheers,

    RT

I would have recommended you have a look on ToyoDIY as it shows all of this BUT for some reason I can only get the images when I look in the Electrical section of the Parts Reference. If I look in Engine/Fuel, Powertrain/Chassis or Body there are no images displayed anymore, well at least for my 2006 1KZ. Just had another look and there are some images but for other year/models. Here is the front diff for a 2007 1KD:
    http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_G_200...AEYQ_4301.html
You can see the fillerplug (41110M) and gasket (41110N) and it looks like almost dirrectly below this is the drain plug (41110P) and gasket (41110Q).

Anyway, there are also some links which may be helpful in the tech section altough not for the Prado but similar vehicles on the front diff oil change:

Just found this as well. Sort of by accident as I was looking for something else:
Differential Oil Changing, How do you do it???????
