My 2009 120 V6 Auto has developed another anoying issue. If I take off fast in a straight line, or with the wheels turned to go around a corner, I get the sensation of something slipping? At first I thought it was a rear tyre slipping on the painted road surface near my work, but now I've noticed that I can make it happen at any time. If you take off a normal pace, nothing happens, but if you put the boot in just a little more, it happens. It feels like either the auto or diff slipping. It's not the "bump" issue, as the prop shaft has already been replaced and that problem went away. Any ideas? Anyone else had this happen?

Certainly doesn't sound right for a late model Prado. Obviously if its under warranty Toyota ought to rectify the problem. Have you noticed any transmission leaks underneath your parking spot? A Low fluid level could certainly cause the slippage you describe. Other areas of concern could include worn clutch plates in the diff., defective solenoids or worn bands in the transmission - however I tend to think these issues seem unlikely in such a new vehicle.

I previously posted that when my 09 GXL T/dsl auto was new I experienced a groaning type noise and slight vibration from the rear end when executing a low speed full lock turn on bitumen. Took it to the dealer who replaced the rear diff fluid stating that they use a "breaking-in fluid". I said "WTF?"

Surely if they put a bedding-in fluid in the diffs then this would be reflected in the service manual and at some point both the front and rear diff oil would be changed. Anyway, the groan did go away for a while but it is back but only barely noticeable. I personally think it is the LSD clutches as the wheels are at their greatest speed difference when you go full lock.

It's down for a check at 40,000 in a couple of weeks.

My 09 GXL TD has a similar issue. Any low speed turn feels like the LSD clutches are slipping. Worse when I tow the boat (2t). Was told by Motorama Service advisors that is normal while they "wear in" but my last 06 GXL did not do it.

I have had it written on the last 2 service cards and will continue to raise it each time. Done 40k now and seems to be getting worse.

You guys were correct, it is the diff. It's got to the stage of giving me the shits badly, especial after commenting about it on the last two services. It's been getting worse, to the point of doing it on nearly every corner or incline. Mine is that bad that it will now even grind & shudder in a straight line, at the right revs, usually when the auto shifts to second. I took the Service Manager for a drive this morning to ensure he witnessed what was happening. He said ( as you all have mentioned ) that they will be changing the oil and adding a fiction modifier, to solve the issue. We'll see, I have very little faith in Toyota since buying this vehicle. As I have previously stated, I've had more issues with this model in 1 year, than I had with my 03 model in 6 years. End of winge.

Has this problem been properly diagnosed yet? I cahnged my the diff oil in my brothers 05 V6 last weekend using Limslip 90W and he has called me tonight to tell me that he is experiencing similar symptoms as posted here.
