  • Leaky front axle seal after fitting ARB locker

I have recently had front and rear lockers fitted to my 2005 model prado. On the return inspection after 1000km ARB noticed the passenger axle seal on the front diff housing was leaking. They promptly booked it in to have it fixed and ordered the genuine part from Toyota. This was fitted and tested and before I got home it had leaked oil all over the place. I called them up and was immediately booked in to have it inspected. Inspection revealed all the bits were in the right place and no obvious damage to various parts. Another seal has been ordered and should be fitted tomorrow.
Has anyone else had this experience and or got any ideas about what might be causing the seal to fail?

Picked up the vehicle today. No apparent reason for the leak. ARB have replaced the seal with anoth identical genuine seal from toyota. they have done a small test drive and have not found any leaks but have asked that I drive it around and bring it in in 2 weeks time for them to have another look.
I am very happy with the service I am getting from ARB nundah. they are definitely committed to providing good quality service and sticking with me until I am a satisfied customer. I would recommend them for this kind of work.

    Cheers

Oil coming from diff lock actuator solenoid

      Guys,
it appeard that the boys at ARB have effectively fixed the axel seal on the front diff housing since installing the locker - gret news.

      Except,
Since that oil leak has been cleaned up it has allowed me to see that oil has been coming out of the dump valve on the solenoid that actuates one of the diff locks - I'm guess its the front locker but haven't followed the hose yet to see and haven't had someone to switch it on and off from inside while I'm on the outside.

Anyhow if anyone knows why this happens please let me know.

        Ed,

It is normal for a small amount of oil to be expelled from the pneumatic each time it dumps air (switches off the diff lock). This oil is present in the valve from manufacture to provide lubrication to the valve.

        Leachy.
