What made you decide upon Redline?

I think this goes under "If it makes you feel good then do it" - The normal spec oil will ensure the components last the life of the vehicle.

Save your money for other goodies IMO

redline have good reputation , commnly used in rally cars.
but personally i would go for toyota WS for auto transmitions. which i beilive is synthetic oil that last for 160,000 km

could smell was gear oil it was worse when towing .Ater talking to a few g/box people i started using redline have not
smelt gear oil since.I suspect may be the other other gear oil was airating ? all i know problem fixed .

                      Re: Synthetic Gearbox Oil Anyone?

                      I found decreased fuel consumption,
less gear noise (diff wine, etc)
in the troop carrier, before using redline we had trouble engaging 4L, but after changing (and we tried other oils first) no probs.

So based on previous experience with it, I am more than happy to continue using it.
I don't use it in the engine however, as it costs a fair bit more, and while they claim it can be go longer between changes i prefer to just change at 5000kms instead.
