Thank you all. That's a great pic. My fallback would have been to go with 8B&S. So now I should be able to have a 30A Powerpole coming off the rear of the SB50 plug. This should save having a terminal block in the footwell behind the front passenger. Time to go buy some gear.

I know it's got the J word in it but it might be worth a quick look too Andrew. Lots of different ways to wire up batteries

The last time I bought powerpoles I bought the frame Anderson makes to go with them. Makes it an easy job to flat mount the plugs.

Will have to find some panel somewhere, but otherwise will leave it as a flying lead under the front passenger's seat.

Are these Anderson plugs genuine? They are very cheap.

Hi Amts, I use these fuses on my dual battery setup. I use a projecta BT-950 fuse box at my aux battery that mounts on the positive post which allows 2 other mini fuses for fridges etc. At my crank I use an inline mega fuse holder I sourced from ebay in uk that holds my fuses and doesn't need to be surface mounted. Would post link to ebay but not sure how .Having trouble posting photo in tapatalk too . I'm a bit IT challenged. Surfing pp is the the extent of my knowledge. How do I attach stuff please.

Hi amts and they are not genuine Anderson plugs, so keep looking as the genuine Anderson plugs are now available for around the same price as the cheapo copies.

Next, if you are using 6B&S cable the largest fuse or circuit breaker that can be SAFELY used with 6B&S is 60 amps and with 8B&S is 40 amps.

                Matt.
This is how i do it form tapatalk. Start a new message window. To the left of the text box is a Plus sign. Click that and it opens a new window. You can press the camera icon to take a photo and add it, next to that is a picture icon which allows you to select an existing photo. To the right are 3 dots which allow you to add text.
                Hope that helps
                Chers,

Andrew, have a look at http://www.andersonpower.com.au

I have purchased a fair bit from here, they are definitely genuine and he does all sizes, crimpers etc. Quick delivery too when he returns.

Pricing is very comparable to the ebay knock off's

                      Cheers,

Thank you Matt for the useful pictures. The battery terminal fuse distribution block might be a bit overkill for my application. Based on drivesafe's comments (and thank you drivesafe) the 60A fuse required will be the smaller of the 2 sizes that the distribution block takes.

Also based on other posts on PP and including drivesafe's posts elsewhere, I think 50A fuses is OK at each battery.

Thank you SLR. I have been browsing that website throughout my shopping spree and it was also recommended by mjrandom too.

So... I think I have a list of things to buy. If anyone has any comments, please you're most welcome to voice it out to prevent me burning down the Prado. The items just so happens to be from ebay as the pricing seems good.
                        1. 1x dual sense VSR (so I can charge both batts from the Aux end using a 240VAC charger).
                        2. 3m 6B&S (might increase this to 4m)
                        3. 2x Genuine Anderson SB50 with dust cover.
                        4. 2x 50A auto reset fuse with terminal covers.
                        5. Various 6mm and 8mm 6B&S lugs
                        6. Crimping tool

                        All up, about $180 spend.

Ok, I was bored. Yes. Second wire was flattened and pushed in with the 6B&S. No problems if tight. Second cable is 18AWG.

With thanks to MJR, I have now added 12AWG to 6B&S into an SB50 Anderson plug. I chose 12AWG as it is the max size to fit into the 30A terminals in the Anderson Powerpoles. It was a tight fit but it works.

I have an AGM in the rear of my Prado, I wouldn't put a wet cell in there personally.

Does Raggedy Anne have cotton tits Yeah I've got pictures, however my rear cargo area setup is unique and what I have done wont necessarily apply to others. Here it is anyway.

So my rear looks like this.

The bottom drawers are standard Black Widow, the 2 top drawers on the RHS I made as below.

In the second Pic above the drawers are fully extended, you can see the bottom one is shorter than the top, in front of the bottom drawer is where my second battery is mounted. Hard to get pictures but here is what you can see.

I have a panel that covers the battery and the wiring so it is not normally visible at all.

                                Cheers Andrew
