I have a 4lt and have looked at the MAF and the diode that is easy to see is completely black and you cant see through it after cleaning it. It was mentioned before that that diode is completely clear, does this mean that its U.S.

Sounds like you had a big mother's bush in there, your air filter housing I mean. Which does add up to a restriction of the air flow by the sounds of it.

Is that what it's called...? Well, it does seem to go a bit better without it - seems a bit more responsive (but haven't been on a real good drive yet). I also went out to the weigh bridge and had her weighed... GVM on the compliance plate says 2900 and the weight on the weigh bridge was 2740! So... what does that mean? I couldn't see a Tare weight on the compliance plate when I looked (but I didn't have me specks on either, doh!). So, I s'pose that means that it's carrying a bit of weight.
I think I'll have a look at the inlet manifold too. I bought some gaskets a while back, but when I looked in the throttle body it wasn't that dirty so I didn't bother... but I'm getting suspiscious.

Hi All,
I have read through this thread and really enjoyed it as it answers most of my questions. My 1995 1kz,[Hank the Tank] is acting same way. On uphills or when I want to pass, I lack pickup. I have a check engine light on. So I got it hooked up to a machine and got a "altitude sensor faulty" code. My question is - is this the same as a "MAF sensor" ? And if so, where is it in a 1 kz?
ahsante sana!
