Redarc is $182, Engine saver is $190. The redarc is a generic kit, engine saver has a kit specifically for the D4D Prado.

Contacting engine saver direct might be the best bet for a group buy.

    Cheers Andrew

I have had a Madman fitted for a while now and I am a little sus as to whether the coolant level function can be relied upon. It uses a low voltage 2.5khz AC current which is supposedly open circuit if not immersed in coolant. From testing (dropping coolant out the rad drain) mine appears to do nothing until about 3-5litres are drained. I refilled again and drained 1-2litres, nothing, then popped the upper hose and stuck an air pistol in there to dry out the probe, at which time it was happy to alarm. Thus I am suspecting that even a thin film of coolant is enough continuity to satisfy the probe and prevent alarming. I wonder whether in a coolant loss with steam etc still in there whether it would actually trigger. Anyone have any experience?

I too am unofficially interested in one, depending on price & then postage.

              Cheers
              REV

Postage is not such an issue for me anymore, as I was checking engine saver out & they are about 50 minutes up the road from me.

I have a Redarc unit installed and can recommend it. If I remove about 200ml of coolant the light flashes and if I take out another 100ml or so the alarm goes off. The light and alarm both self test on start up which the wife hates but has never phased me. I installed it 7 months ago and am happy with it, I got it on a show special for $125.

And how much was the install? You need to tap a hole in the top radiator tank so isn't DIY for everyone.

I have the unit mounted up behind the steering plastic trim using tape. I wired up a LED off the unit and put that down near the auto shifter. There are a few photos on my buildup, I think of theLED and sensor.

Did the install myself not too hard. Have to remove the main battery to get the drill in the right spot and I always find getting the wiring thought the firewall a pain in the ass.

                              Guys,
I sent Aaron a pm on Wednesday to get permission to get a group buy going (required in the rules) as i believe this unit would be taken up by a few pp'ers, and the more could mean for better pricing. I am surprised that he has not responded as yet though.
If anyone has his email address maybe you could ask him to check his pp inbox?
Enginesaver closes down from the 24th through to Jan 6th so we have some time up our sleeves to get it happening

Otherwise it may well be officially unofficial
