Guys,
I'm having a mulgrel of a time wiring up my new replacement winch solenoid. I've replaced the twin can style solenoids with a single "albright" style solenoid. Although the wiring configuration seems so simple, I must be doing something wrong as I can only power in or out by switching the position of two cables on the solenoid. I am usually good with this sort of stuff but this one got me stuffed. I have checked the operation of the solenoid and in isolation it is working as designed, but when wired up, both switching terminals are live? This shouldn't be right. Is it possible that I've got the armature connection wrong? I've used the connection terminal on the motor furthermost from the winch drum. Is that not the normal armature terminal on a series wound winch motor?
Any advise appreciated.
