Got home today, no one else here, woohoo...
Plugged the unit in and set it up in the cradle, powered on, drove around the block, all seemed OK, ditched off car, left, it for awhile.
Powered itself off as mentioned above.
Now, one last set of questions, if you will.
1. How can I confirm it is working without a trailer connected? Simple as pressing brake pedal with multi connected to relevant pins in the trailer plug? Which pin?
2. We will be towing a Jayco Expanda 16.49 to QLD in June, what is the best setting, for dry and wet roads (praying for no rain, but better be prepared).
This is so far outside my limited knowledge base, its not funny...
BTW, I'll chuck up some photos of the finished product soon.
D4D Prado GXL - 2014. 2" OME lift, ARB Deluxe Winch bar, ARB under body protection plates, ARB EZ Deflator, Weaco fridge, Matsen fridge on slide, BFG A/T's, ARB CKMA12 compressor, Oztrail side awning with LED lights PLUS canvas extension, Lightforce XGT's.. Oricom UHF380, GME AE4017
Tested this today, towed a mates 2+ tonne caravan, worked a treat.
Question, should the display show numbers when I am on the brakes...?
Showed 0.0 the whole time...

Definately should show numbers. I belive the harder the braking the higher the number, but dut to the fact I'm at work and not going to Bendleby(SAGTG Recky) this weekend its hard for me to check sorry. Damm work sux!!
Yep.....I have a Prado just like you Bugger Bali, get out and see Australia before we sell it all to China My Rig BuildTowing Camprite TL8s (if ya wanna look PM me)
Hmmm, it would appear for me to run this P3 properly, I need to not only hook up e trailer, but also once it was running, use the knob underneath to set the power. Must have missed that in the destructions.
That is why it was showing 0.0, there was no power setting.
Explains why it felt a little heavy

Might not be of interest now that you are pretty much done, but... I also have an electric brake controller, and camper with fridge and battery. They are all wired to work via a caravan 12-pin plug - no extra Andersons. The second row of pins (8-12 I think) in a 12-pin plug are bigger and meatier than the other row, to take higher currents. So the camper fridge can run while the engine is running via one of the pins, and the Redarc BCDC1220 charger for the camper battery runs via another. It all seems to work fine, and it seemed more elegant to me to have just the one connector. I didn't wire this up myself - it was done by a local 12-volt specialist. If your camper fridge is a Dometic, you may discover that it doesn't work all that well on 12 volts - well mine doesn't anyway. They are far more effective on gas or 240volts. I guess it's just a function of the total energy available from each source.

White 08 Standard with ABS/cruise option pack, D4D/6-man, std 6" steel rims with Cooper AT3 235/70R17s, added roof rails, bullbar, towbar, ScanGauge II, custom-built aux power pack, Bushman multi-capacity fridge on slide, on DIY removable false floor. Often towing an Ultimate camper-trailer.
FWIW folks, we have just towed a Jayco Expanda (on hire) from Sydney to the Gold Coast.
Realised the install is not 100% complete. Time was short and I went against the advice of many and scotch locked the brake cable to the brake light switch and this is why when towing my mates van, it did not seem to work properly. I thought it was an issue with the unit itself (read above) but have now learned it was the crap connection with the scotch lock. I have now removed the scotch lock and put it where it should be, in the bin. Temporary wiring done and tested with the van. I will correct when I am home with all the tools...
Needless to say, the over ride brakes supplied with the Jayco hire, worked OK on the way up, but the trip home will be MUCH better.
SWMBO even drove it, and said it towed well...
