Hi All,
After getting completely fed up with the poor light output of the stock headlights I decided to swap out the bulbs to see how much improvement I could get. I ended up choosing between the Philips X-treme Vision and OSRAM Night Breaker Plus with the latter winning out due to it's claimed longer life.
The difference is huge! On swapping the bulbs I immediately noticed at least a 50% increase in light output. It was like driving a different car. So can highly recommend these bulbs. I got them from PowerBulbs (http://www.powerbulbs.com/au/product...r-h4-two-bulbs), free shipping and a free set of parker bulbs (which was convenient as one of mine had blown).
Next I had my brother (a professional detailer) polish the headlights themselves. I didn't realise how yellow they had become until they'd been polished. They look brand new now and perhaps unsurprisingly, I gained around another 50% more light. This mainly came down to the lack of scattering of light the smooth, clear surface allows for.
All in all, $30 and half an hour very well spent!
Cheers,
Gavin
