well when i activate it it works fine for a few km's up the road then after a while the dash light "CRUISE" intermittently starts to flash.
After this the cruise control lever will not function at all, except when i press the end button in to deactivate it.
if it is activated again it will work in the exact same manner as just explained.
Any ideas?

PROBLEM SOLVED
I went to the auto electrician and we went through all the common checks, turns out the brake lights were also not working. I found out that the cruise control and brake lights effect each other through the electric brake switch.
we pulled out the switch from under the brake pedal it was a little used/worn so we removed it by unpluging the switch and twisting it clockwise, the switch was then taken apart easily and the little contacts were adjusted finely inside by feel. We put it back together making sure not to lose the spring, connected it back together and it works again.
So to wrap it up fixed two issues with a little research!!!
Remember tail lights and cruise control are connected.
Thanks.
