BUT on the flip side, we had a recommendation to stay at the Outback Caravan park (vs the Tennant Creek Caravan Park) and this park is one of, if not the best park we have stayed in to date. Big sites (heaps of drive through if you like that sort of thing) shade, almost green grass, extremely clean amenities, camp kitchens, honestly it is great. It is a few blocks away from the main drag so it seems to be able to stay isolated from the rest of TFC.

If do have to stop, do yourself a favour and bunk down here, we looked at the other one, its right next to the 24hr BP so like bugs to a light, the riff raff are drawn to that end of town.
+1 to the Outback CP. Within walking distance to the Battery Hill mining museum too. Top tip from the guide - don't go fossikcing in the fossicking area. Head out the back towards the mine entrance, down some steps to the a garage. The gravel there has lots of gold lying in it. Our kids found some in about 2 minutes.

        [QUOTE=myminirocks;418513]Tokhi that's a great story! Wish I has 12 other prado's .

Just me and another couple had prados, the rest were pootrols or cruisers.
Good to hear you'll be on your way shortly.

Hey jasen, yes 8foot barbed wire fence right around the perimeter, this gives you an idea of what is outside the park. Tonight in particular the locals seem to be more 'lively' then all the other nights. I like the fence, I like it a lot.

Good to know when we get to kunnunarra I might have options for a spare one.

Yes gold in the gravel 'out back' but remember, we are talking dust, flecks, not nuggets :-)

I had checked the IGN1 and 2 fuse, I also looked for the rumored sectors ALT fuse bit couldn't find it?

Anyway, brand new jaylec 100amp one in there now. He tells me the denso one in it originally is only 55amp?!? Does that sound right? Why does the alternator have a 140amp fuse if only putting out 55amp?

So should I expect the batteries to charge a bit quicker/better now?

$800 all up in the end.... Looking at writing an article or 2 for a mag to help pay that one off.

There is a silver lining to most stories. Glad you got it sorted...while the labour isnt cheap the price of the alternator wasnt bad at all. Myminirocks

A friend here has a troopie, older diesel and his alternator popped the other day, it took out a bunch of fuses and the main fuseable link from the battery. Had us going for a while but it had to be something serious if the 100amp fuse blew. Sure enough we put the meter on the output of the alternator and nothing there. Autosparky in Alice had one on the shelf for $450, was the cheapest in town so if this guy wants $500, smile and think yourself lucky :-)

The days of reconditioning them are long gone, Autosparky says they just throw them in the bin, no more bearing changes, brushes or regulator modules....its just not worth it. if you want a spare one then take it home with you and spend the hours on fixing it, I bet you'll soon loose interest :-)

I reckon the best van park in TC is down Peko road, have stayed there quite a few times and its a nice walk back into town.

              Cheers..Pete

                Wouldn't be the first time!

You seem to be having a bit of bad luck but look at it like it is all part of the experience. The good will outweigh the bad. By the way Samford is still here just in case you are intested. Though your house burnt down last night. Joking. Hopefully that is the last of your inconveniences...

If mjr is looking after your house whilst you're away, I'd change your toothbrush when you get home just in case....

Hey Craig didn't know you had been over to mmr's place! Definately replace the toothbrushes. Did you leave any CPLs in the fridge?
