  • Reverse Camera on SATNAV PQZ60-00200 (26028)

I took delivery today of a Toyota SATNAV unit - PQZ60-00200 (26028 on front)

Before I pull the dash apart to put it in I want to sort out a reverse camera for it (and/or other cameras). The camera has not been selected yet, but I want to be able to use a non genuine camera so I can select between any NTSC camera available.

So far after lots of reading the answer has eluded me. There is plenty of info but nothing that answers the question I have.

This head unit is from a 2007 Grande 120, going into my 2003 GXL 120.

How do I connect a "normal" camera up to this unit. By normal I mean any standard camera that I can find at any camera supplier.

This is the back of the unit (taken from another thread - no need to upload it again)

I think the black connector is for video input, but I am not sure what signal it requires (standard 1Vp-p?).

I dont expect my Prado to have this pre-wired - that from what I have read is about 2008 onwards.

    Hi Mick,
Ive installed a camera onto my 2003 grande which looks to be the basically the same as yours. The grey connector is the input for the reverse signal. From memory ( but id need to double check) I thought it was the first pin on the left. You can pick up this signal from reverse light circuit.
The video signal comes in through the blue connector on the right of your photo. You can buy an adapter cable from ebay that has an rca socket on one end and the blue plug on the other, but I think they wanted something like $75 for it, so I just opened the head unit up and soldered an rca socket and lead directly into the head unit.
i probably still have the photos of the wiring if your interested.

    Jamie.

      Thanks Jamie
In reference to this thread,http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...a-SatNav-26028 , is this the cable you are talking about - i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll220/brettwatkins/IMG_2069.jpg.

Since mine is not installed yet, I am a little unsure of exact functionality - is there only one video input, and that is the reverse camera that can also be used as a generic video input.

Mine came with the aux input audio cable (3.5mm stereo socket for glovebox install), so if I press the Aux bitton I get Audio. I am assuming then that if I am in reverse I get video and audio at the same time, where the video is from the reverse camera and the audio is still from the aux input connector.

Now if I use the cable you mention and have say an iPod touch connected outputting video (with a hack on the reverse signal to allow constant display of picture), I lose reverse camera functionality - as the reverse camera uses the same video input. Is this assumption correct?

If you refer to this page - http://www.castulucci.com/projects/c...ors/index.html - the list of connectors here shows a 10 pin connector (in black) which appears to be on this unit, that does video as well - RGB video by the looks of it (PC Input if you want it). It also shows a reverse camera connector as opposed to the blue (DVD Changer) input, hence my question on functionality above.

Any photos would be great - I am trying to get it all sorted before I rip the dash apart and install the unit, do it once preferably.

You can buy a wiring harness if you don't want to solder an RCA lead directly to the inside of the stereo.
        http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...l=1#post440329
This harness connects to the 20 pin connector to the right of the connector with the arrow pointing to it. This corresponds to connector CN2100 on the pinout picture and the very last connector on castulucci website.

The reverse camera input is actually a 4 pin connector. Have you got this in your unit? This corresponds to the 4 pin connector CN2106 on the pinout picture which I linked to above and the 4th connector on castulucci website.

The 5 pin connector that the arrow is pointing to in your photo corresponds to the 5 pin connector CN2103 on the pinout picture and the 1st connector on castulucci website

So after buying the speed harness I realized that the connector on the lower left that is used for the BT mic also is for a camera.

From what I had been able to find so far, it appears that there are multiple inputs on the back for the same thing.

I have found all the part numbers for the housings and wire repair part numbers and also identified the part numbers from the supplier to Toyota for the terminals.

It would also appear that these can take an RGB video input as well - thinking of a Car PC now - wonder if the touchscreen can output a signal back to a PC ........

            Hey Jamie,
I've also have an 2003 and would love to hook up a camera. Do you think you could send me the pictures to solder in a rca lead?
            Thanks
            Philip
