Time Lag Between the KeyStart Position and Starter Turning

There seems to be an intermittent pause between when I turn the key to 'start' and the starter turning. Sometimes nothing happens so I wobble the auto trans selector and try again and usually it starts. Has anyone had to renew their ignition switch or adjust the start lock-out switch on the auto trans?

What happens with the transmission in N? You will have to push the override button to change the gear lever before you start. From your description I am guessing it will fire straight up and your problem is the park neutral switch.
