    Bluetooth Radio problems

    Had mine at the dealer last week to have the whole radio changed over because I was having problems with people not being able to hear me very well on the hands free. Didn't solve the problem really and the customer service girl told me alot of people are having problems and it is now in the hands of Toyota Australia to come up with a fix. She couldn't tell me when though. I suggest anyone else who is not happy with theirs register the problem with their local dealer.
    We shall see what transpires!

      Mine also works correctly :!:
      07 Upgrade GXL D4D, Manual, Dune,Sov Bar, BFG's, SG11, Redark dual Batts, Extensive Aux wiring, Stebel, LED stop tails, IPF HID's (my mod), 240V Inv, ARB Comp, GME UHF,TPMS, Safari snorkel, GPS,Hilux washers, 40l Engel in 30% pas pos,homemade A/C cond protection plate, polyairs.

        Mine's rubbish, people on the other end can't hear because it's scratchy or sounds too far away.

        I thought it may be because the microphone is too far away, but by the sounds of it there's another problem with it. Good to know, I'll get toyo to have a look next service.

        Thanks for the info. I just thought it was a bit of a gimmick.

          Most of the time mine works a treat as well.

          I have had a couple of calls though where the other end has trouble hearing me and end up having to terminate the call...

          Be interested to hear what Toyota have to say

            What volumne have you got it on as find at about 7 works best for me, also when it is connected how strong is the signal(bars next to the "BT" on the radio screen) as this can effect quality and has a lot to do with the phone. I run a nokia 6120 and 6500 through the BT both work fine.

              Might be Dumb Question... but exactly WHERE is the Microphone?

                There's a small slot on the front of the radio about 3-4mm long... I'm assuming that's it.

                  Just a question guys, are these problems from new or does it happen over time? I picked up my new Prado yesterday & the Bluetooth works perfectly, very clear & easy to use. I'm just wondering whether to expect issues down the track.....

                    I picked up my new GXL Prado last Friday and I sometimes have to put my head about 6 inches in front of the microphone for the conversation on the other end to be OK. Signal strength is very high, sound level is good in the car and I can hear everything the other callers say. Is there a microphone volume/adjustment?
                    SSSHHHH be very very quiet were huntin wabbits.

                      i think that's fairly common. mine has the microphone on the front of the unit too and every now and then i have to lean forward and yell at the stereo... get some funny looks from people in the cars beside!

                        I had a problem with mine and the guys at Toyota said that turning up the volume during a call also increases the mic sensitivity. This seems to have fixed my issues.

                        I use a Palm Treo 750 without too many issues.

                          For those having problems with the BluTooth system, remember that BlueTooth systems are usually just a means to connect an external speaker and microphone to a cellphone wirelessly.

                          The audio processing and everything else is still handled by the cellphone itself.

                          In other words, a lot of the problems people have are not the BlueTooth system at all but the cellphone itself.

                          If your BlueTooth system isn't working well then try it out with a couple of other makes of cellphone to see if there's any difference.

                            Beat me to it Tim. I would be looking at the phone and compatibility issues. Sometimes cell phone manufacturers release new firmware for their phones to enhance these kind of features on their phones.

                              The other issue is that the bluetooth standard, is quite open to interpretation, and different manufactures (and sometimes different models) impliment it quite differently. I know Blackberry, don't bond to a lot of bluetooth kits, but work fantastic with their genuine kit.
