12v cigarette not working

Hey everyone,

A little while ago I noticed my phone would not charge in the 12v cigarette socket.
The front 12v 120w power socket works fine.

Multimetered the socket. Got nothing

I checked the fuse under the steering column and it's fine. Removed the fuse and tested the points where the fuse sits with the multimeter and nothing.
I verified the multi meter is fine on the 120w power socket (via fuse & socket) working fine

I can't see anything in the engine bay fuse box that relates.
Everything else of the vehicle is working as far as I know

Any ideas?

if there is power at the fuse, then i'd start by checking for power at the back on the socket (using a 12v test light probably the best way) if nothing, try using a different earth, not the cig socket earth and see if you get power. If you do then just run a new wire from a earth bolt in drivers kick panel to the back of cig socket

Just in case you haven't checked both looking in the owners manual there's two fuses inside the car. First one is middle row 5th fuse from the top and is a 15a fuse for power outlets and the second fuse is top right corner 10a for the cigarette lighter socket

yeh i had same issue also, there are 2 fuses for the lighter plugs one each.

hi everyone, thanks for the responses.

Yes I tested the 2 fuses in the drivers kick panel area

15a Power - tested working, fuse is fine and all accessories work fine from the 120w power plug
10a Cigarette - not working, fuse is fine, no power at the fuse at all.

Recap.
120w Power is working fine.
Cigarette is not working, fuse is fine. no 12v at the fuse either (tested with multimeter)

I had that problem once. I had someone pull the dash out and forgot to reconnect the wires behind the cig outlet. Sorry if this is a little too simple to check.

This would not explain why there is no power at the fuse for the cig tho

Check the wires behind the fuse box? Maybe it has come loose? Maybe re-seat the connectors.
