Thanks for the tip; I was also unimpressed by the trailer lights at the front ! Decided to buy white in both cases, thinking it willl go better with the white car.

Still trying to decide the easiest and best way to change the headlights for ones that actually light up the road. I will be fitting my 400w IPF spotlights from my Disco (it's standard lights are excellent) but as I have seen in another post, the drop down from spots to Prado standard low beam will be too dramatic. Any suggestions ?

Re: LED park and indicator lights on a Sovereign bullbar

A big thanks for the write up on this one. Ordered off E-bay and after some (very hard) convincing "The Boss" relunctantly gave me the approval to mount them.

All went really well and followed by a big nod of approval from "The Boss", she now looks at other Prado's and always remarks on how much "ours" looks better than their's.

But seriously thanks for the write up it made things easier to get done.

                  Cheers

Re: LED park and indicator lights on a Sovereign bullbar

After looking at this last night it got me motivated to also replace the door courtesy lamps to white led's also...have sent an email to narva to see whether they are in the process of upgrading the current bullbar lights to a led optioned equivalent...wife likes the look of the white led in the doors and headlamp parkers but also commented that the BB needed upgrading

Is anyone able to confirm that the following are the original Narva part numbers for the park/indicator on the Sovereign bullbar:

87280 - Front Direction Indicator and Front Position Lamp RRP $30.00
87285 - Clear Lens (to suit Part No. 87280) RRP $13.50 - but incurs a $10.00 shipping fee as it has to be ordered from Narva.

Heres the bit out of the catalogue that I have for the bullbar parker light.

I have a couple I have removed from my bullbar to fit Chippy's LEDs (shame was in Melb last weekend)

                          Thanks Matt.

For future reference - price quotes from various sources:

Toyota : Don't sell the lense only the full indicator assembly - $50.

Repco : $13.50 for the lense (but an addditional $10.00 for shipping cost to the store - not held in stock)
The store I spoke to had a full indicator assembly for $30.00

Autobarn : $11.99 for the lense. Not held in stock but no additional cost to get it in from the warehouse. 5 working days for delivery to store.

Out of interest, what modifications are required to fit the LED lights into the original NARVA lighting positions?

Re: LED park and indicator lights on a Sovereign bullbar

I haven't fitted mine, but from Chippy's post seems a simple matter of drilling new mounting holes in the bar, filing down the corners of the LEDs (square peg, round hole), bolting them on and joining the wires (either solder or crimp)..

My plan was to make a aluminium template, I can use this to mark the hole on the bar and I can screw the LEDs on to the template to file them to shape, hopefully just turn it over to do the other side!!

Howdy all, been a while, life very busy this end for a humble Golly. No more working at the mines thanks god, so home alot more.
Question about the sovereign bar with the led's. How to wire them..... hahah

Ive had a quick look, red green and white from the factory loom goes into the ugly trailer park lights.
The LED's have red and white.... Mmmm help! if anyone can steer me in the right direction.

I have the exact lights that Chippy installed, just need the wiring setup and I'm right to go ! woot!

                              Cheers guys.

Re: LED park and indicator lights on a Sovereign bullbar

                                Golly,

You might have already done them over the weekend, but anyways. mine are a different model to Chippy but essentially the same lights (smaller mount - no filing required...). I just climbed under and had a look, but I've done too good a job - it's all shrink wrapped and in corrugated hosing, so I can't see the wires.

But...the three wires into the trailer lights are (1) power to parker, (2) power to indicator and (3) shared earth. So your 2 LEDS will share one of the wires (earth, obviously). Then you just need to figure out which one flashes and which one gets power from the parkers... I remember being half asleep when I first did it and had the parker flashing and the indicator on ops: When you pull the trailer light cover off, you should be able to figure out which colour does what.

It was a great mod for the Overland Telegraph Track. I used to blow globes whenever I did water crossings or deep mud, but we did heaps and heaps of water up there and they never stopped!
