fuel and temp gauges not working

Hey guys new to the prado world! Just bought an 04 gxl petrol prado! Few issues iam having is that the fuel gauge isnt working? It came upto half on the way home and was working for abit. But when i stopped turned car off few 10mins and came back was on empty with fuel light on and sub tank light on. Second issue is similar. Temp gauge has also decided it wantes to stop working at the same time and wont read at all anymore. Was reading fine on test drive and on way home till i turned car off and then back on. Yes has coolant!

did you buy it privately or at a dealer

i would take it back to either if you have only had it a day

Considering you are having problems with 2 gauges, it's likely in the instrument cluster. A bad solder?
Take out cluster & send to an expert speedo repair shop.

Ive just had a similar issue on my 04 prado petrol, turned out to be the plugs on the instrument cluster not done up tight enough. I had issues with fuel, temp, speedo and seat belt light. all I had to do was remove the dash cluster surround and at the top of the instrument cluster are 2 white bolt/nut looking things, make sure they are tight as if they come loose the plugs will come out of the holder breaking contact hence providing issues.

My 2003 Petrol gauge is all over the show sometimes. Seems to correlate with parking on a slope.
