  • Number plate holder and reversing light

I just had a thought that you could relocate the rear number plate higher and this would give you plenty of space to mount a reversing/work light underneath. Anybody tried this and/or know what's behind the number plate mount?

    Something like this http://db.hella.com.au/cgi-bin/catal...w&flmaint=1269

the rear of the number plate plastic trim is nothing.
has 4 plastic trim type clips that hold it on.
not to strong in my opinion

You could mount it onto a custom made "L" shaped bracket into the spare wheel carrier (two holes in the centre).

I've got a similar light and thats what I intend doing.

Yes I thought of that but what happens when you need to use the spare?

i thought of this idea, but didn't like drilling a hole to run the wiring through door and out pillar wiring tubing.
so i removed my already smashed rear fog/reflectors and put small lights in there.
alot easier to fit and wire.

I wasn't thinking of drilling or using as a reverse light. I can use my anderson plug at the back to power at the camp site.

or even drop a bracket in behind the frame that holds the spare wheel and add a couple of those SCA Supercheap lights so they peek out through the gaps in the rim ...

Then you can use the spare without fiddling with the lights.

.... and you can still run them from the Anderson plug if that's the way you want to do it.

                Just a thought

                Cheers

Thanks Chippy, another bright idea as always 8).

Whats that protruding metal bracket? thinking about it maybe make a light pole which screws onto the bracket on the wheel :?:

it's probably a shovel holder, considering those WA guys are aways playing in the mud and creeks.

I knicked the pic from Jim's (Coffs Harbour) post about the 4x4 Equip shovel holder ... as it was a good pic of the spare wheel ops:

                      Cheers

Sunday morning job, I moved the number plate up to be flush with the top of the holder. I think it looks better, don't know why Toyota didn't do this from the factory. The plate covers the original bolt holes.

I've got one of those brackets.

It holds the shovel, axe and Versa lite pole.

                          2005 VX Turbo Diesel + a heap of add-ons.

How much does it cost? I mean the "bracket" that goes on the spare wheel holder?

                            Thanks
