Having just got an email back from Kaymar quoting the prices for the rear door spare wheel spacer and extendable light pole kit, $122 and $204 respectively plus postage, I decided to try and track down an option I found a couple of months ago but can't seem to find again and simply hope that someone may have come across the same item and know where I can find the seller and/or listing for the item.

If you do go down the Kaymar path you should be able to go to TJM or ACT Automotive off road centre and get them to order it for you with their next order. That will save you postage. Depending on your relationship with the local shop you may even be able to get a discount.

The freight part of the cost wasn't the concern :P

I have since found the supplier I was looking for. It is Ferret Tools in WA. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0748470208

Kaymar where going to charge a fortune to frieght it to me in WA, that is why I went to the local shop.

I like the GU bracket nice and simple, happy with my Kaymar one though as I like the telescopic ability to get the light higher when setting up camp.

          Re: Rear work/spot light install

The GU bracket is essentially the same as the prado bracket. I am thinking of getting the two light mount varient.

I aggree with the telescopic pole benefits, however, I can't justify in excess of $300 for it. I figure that with the two light setup I should be able to angle one off enough that the light cast is ample to conduct any sort of activities at the rear of the vehicle. My intent is also to wire up a 3-way switch. Center - off, Top - Single/Reverse light, Bottom - Both lights.

I knocked up a rear work light bracket today. It's sort of half done and needs a good linish and paint job tomorrow morning. I have purchased the same ebay LED that Samo has and it's coming next week in the mail.....

Here a few rough pics from my iphone..

Nice work Matt. Can you get anoter shot of the detail of how the verticle bar mounts to the cross member. Curious if it is just a weld or something a little more corrugation proof. I've been looking at a work light and I'm trying to work out if I want something like what you have done, something like Samo or even something that sits higher. Went on a trip last year up the Birdsville travk and one of the fellas had mounted on the back of his 70 series ute a simple tent pole with an LED flood light. He just extended the tent pole up so that it was about 3m in the air and it did a fantastic job of lighting up a huge area. From memory it wasn't a very bright LED but it did a great job when elevated. A possible option would be something that folds down into the roof tray and lifts up when camped. Still thinking.

                  Re: Rear work/spot light install

                  Hi All
Our very own MickL was producing a very neat extend able rear light a little while ago.
We all checked it out at the fathers day GTG last year.
A PM to Mick to ask if he is still making the brackets could yield the result you are after.
                  Cheers Troy

I already have one underneath the car and its crap. That is why I am mounting a new LED up high. The steps are to manage the curve of the rear door...
